Popcorn ball, Cracked wheat & Riviera sand...

It's been some time since my last blog entry. Hubby and I have been working on the main bath. We relocated to Oklahoma a little over a year ago and love the house we bought, but  have a list of things we would like to do as time and money permit. One thing, that I started was to strip the painted-over wallpaper in the main bath .... then one thing led to another and the bathroom walls remained half-stripped for months. The promise of a friend coming to visit, prompted us to get busy and do something with this bath room. Since the wallpaper just wasn't coming off, EVER, NEVER, we decided to strip the popcorn texture from the ceiling and texture both the ceiling and walls, covering up the wallpaper. We also painted the dark woodwork on the vanity and added a new top, hardware and facets.

This bath gets the morning sun and is so bright and cheerful everything is now. Behr brand paint with the built in primer (you can see the colors below) was awesome in helping to cover the dark wood on the cabinets and trim.
No one will ever know the botched job I did trying to strip the wallpaper... that is if you don't tell them!   :)

Just discovered a wonderful resource... www.spoonflower.com ... it is an awesome find for us fabricaholics. You can design your own fabric and have it printed on a variety of fabric from quilting weight cotton to linen-cotton canvas, even silk. If you like, you can choose to sell your designs through Spoonflower and receive a commission on the sale.

Spoonflower and Michael Miller Fabrics has teamed together in sponsoring a fabric design contest thru Spoonflower. The contest theme centered on a fabric design for a baby boy, here's the link to my entry. Below are close ups of my process and final entry.

Initial sketches and ideas:
My  final repeat design.
The winner of this contest will be required to design 5 additional companion fabrics, then suffer through their designs being produced and made available for the Houston quilt show and market during the fall, 2011. How horrible is that! Actually, it would be a dream come true!

Have a good week!

Your bathroom looks amazing, is was worth the hard work. I love the mirror! If only we had something like that, our bathroom is a tiny room with absolutely no storage :-( Our appartment is rented and we won't be here forever, so maybe one day...

Hello, I'm in admiration for how your bathroom turned out! Great job! I also want to wish you 'good luck' for the fabrics!!! At this moment for some reasons I can't visualize them on my pc, but I'm sure they're super-fine! Tiziana

Its lovely to see you are blogging again, i missed your posts....
The earthy colours of your bathroom look great. My bathroom is dusty pink.We have lived in our house for 30 years and there is always some thing that needs doing. My post is fixed now, i think i tried to put too many photos on it so it just crashed. Happy decorating xxxx
